Assistant Superintendent of Schools

The Diocese of Allentown is seeking a full-time Assistant Superintendent of Schools. This position provides leadership in areas of government programs, Intermediate Unit programs, and all Diocesan Elementary Schools. The Assistant Superintendent acts as the liaison for the Superintendent of Catholic Education with principals, teachers, pastors, and religious communities. The Assistant Superintendent must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, have a deep knowledge and love of the Catholic faith, and agree to live by the tenets of the Catholic church, including in lifestyle and on personal social media.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provides administrative support and supervision to the Elementary school principals. Consult with administrators on day-to-day schools, effective programming, and safety/crisis management.
  • Supervise and leverage government programs (Equitable Participation, federal programs, and Act 89 services) to best serve our students. Attend and maintain relationships with IU staff. Create relationships with all districts to support Principals with individual consultation.
  • Direct and assist with coordinating and completing grant activities within the Office of Education.

Qualified candidates must have a Master's Degree in Education with one of the following certifications; Instructional I, Instructional II, School Administration (Principal Certification, K-12), or Superintendent PK12. Candidate must also have at least 10 years of teaching and administrative education (Catholic Education preferred) and be Catechist certified or equivalent.
